Thanks to Paramount Pictures I was lucky enough to attend the Sydney Red Carpet Premiere of the excellent ‘PUSS IN BOOTS.’ I got the chance to interview Salma Hayek – and even though I didn’t get a chance to discuss the film with her, I was able to get her advice for young filmmakers: Check out her great answer:
Q: Hi Salma it’s wonderful to meet you!
A: Lovely to meet you too!
Q: You are such an icon, and you’ve done so much work for film!
A: Thank you!
Q: You even have your own production company. I was wondering what advice you could give to young aspiring filmmakers?
A: Oh okay! Well I would say; don’t try to think about what people would want to see. Have your own voice, and think about what you would want to say. Especially – later on you will spend the rest of your life probably making compromises.
When you are starting out – if you are a filmmaker – find the uniqueness within you; the unique way that you see the world; and try to express that in some way.
Q: Thank you!
A: Thank you!
‘PUSS IN BOOTS’ Is out across Australia today; and we highly recommend you go and see it! I will try to get my review up this week, but let me assure you it is EXCELLENT. One of the best films Dreamworks Animation has yet produced!
