Watching The Dictator, and re-watching Borat and Bruno, makes it pretty clear that Sacha Baron Cohen’s characters are best fitted to documentary style film and television (let’s not forget the Ali G Show).

Note: I read comics. But I’m not really going to talk much about the Marvel Universe and it’s relation to this movie. We’ll do that next week, once the films opened up worldwide. But to you geeks, and non geek out there: get prepared. ‘The Avengers’ is one of the all time greats; it’s a movie for the history books.
‘The Hunger Games’ should have been more. Read more…
I just don’t understand the negativity towards ‘Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance.’ I don’t understand it at all. Then again; I don’t understand the vitriol people spray at directors Nevaldine/Taylor – whose (prior to Ghost Rider) films ‘Crank,’ ‘Crank 2: High Voltage’ and ‘Gamer’ were pissed on in a similar fashion. Note before reading: I really really liked ‘Contagion’ – although this review reads quite harshly, I still think the film is one of the better 2011 films and is definitely worth seeing.
Watching ‘Contagion,’ the newest film from director Steven Soderbergh, is like you’re watching a ‘Friday the 13th’ Movie, and instead of a hockey mask wearing psychopath; you’ve got a virus. And instead of a bunch of idiot teenagers, you’ve got scientists and doctors. It’s an enjoyable film while you are watching it, but once it’s over you see it for all its flaws and general emptiness. Every so often a giant-robots-fighting-each-other movie comes along that is actually good. ‘Night At The Museum’ director Shawn Levy’s new film ‘Real Steel’ didn’t look like it would destroy the incredible run of piece-of-shit-giant-robot movies. Well it does. Read more…
